He obtained an FRCS from Glasgow, Scotland in the UK in 2006. Dr Shetty has introduced cutting edge technology at the institute and is spearheading treatment for challenging eye disorders. He has close to 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented his research work at numerous prestigious international conferences across the world. He defended his PhD from Maastricht University, Netherlands. He was awarded the prestigious Col. Rangachari award in 2015.
